The role of women in ancient warfare differs from culture to culture. Wars throughout written history have been primarily portrayed in modern times as a problem for men, but women have also played a role. Until recently, a small mention of this exploitation was included in the retellings of history in most countries, other than Amazon.

The female god, whose origin preceded the historical record, was present in most of the early cultures. Often they are portrayed as warriors, signifying the presence of women among such activities before major changes in many human cultures after the adoption of agriculture as a distinctive sustenance (and which permits protracted wars with the great army).

Their influence, the roles of female rulers, and important women, are preserved in many of these cultures so strong that there is no new legend, ideals, and myths that can obscure them completely.

The following is a list of prominent women who participated in the battle, collected from the beginning of incomplete written notes up to about 500 AD. Archaeological research provides more detail and guidance on a regular basis.
