Thomas Ulsrud (born October 21, 1971) is a Norwegian binder from Oslo. He is a leap from the current world champions of the Norwegian national team and he is also a double European champion and former Olympic silver medalist. Ulsrud is also the current record holder for most of his victories by missing him at the World Men's Curling Championship.

Careers

Ulsrud has been curled up since 1983. In the second Junior Curling World Championship in 1988, Ulsrud missed Norway with a bronze medal.

In 1997, he missed his first European Curling Championship, ending in seventh place. The Ulsrud team competed again in 2000-2003, 2006-2009, won bronze in 2002, silver in 2007, and bronze in 2009.

In his first World Curling Championship in 1998, Ulsrud missed Norway into fifth place. After serving as an alternative to the Trulsen team in 1999, he returned again through 2006-2009, making the playoffs for the first time in 2006 and then beating US team-mate Pete Fenson to win a bronze medal. Two bronze medals followed in 2008 and 2009.

The Ulsrud team started the 2010-11 season by winning their first ever gold medal in Europe, the Curling Championship in Champion, Switzerland. The team topped the season by completing fourth place in the 2011 Men's World Punch Championship.

The arena won its second European Championship in a row by winning a gold medal at the 2011 European Curling Championship. Then that season they will once again finish 4th in the 2012 Men's Curling World Championships. That season, the team won a WCT event, European Master 2012.

The Ulsrud Arena will continue their dominance in the European championship by winning silver medals in both 2012 and 2013 events. They are less successful at the Ford World Men Boxing Championships 2013, ending in 5th position. Arena again represented Norway once again at the 2014 Winter Olympics, where they finished 5th, with a 5-5 record. They lost the tie-breaker match to England, passed by David Murdoch. At the World Curling Tour, the team won one event in 2013-14, Switzerland Swiss Basel Basel. The team closed their season by winning the gold medal at the Curling Men's World Championship 2014.

The World Champion, the Ulsrud arena, kicked off the spring 2014-15 by winning the first WCT event of the year, the Baden Masters 2014.

Personal life

Ulsrud is married to Elin GrÃÆ'¸dal, and they have one son. He is employed as a business owner.
