A lob or long bob is a haircut and a bob cut variant. The length between long hair and bob pieces.
Lob is cut just above the shoulders, on the shoulder or under.
In the 1920s, many women chose to cut their hair into bob. Toward the end of the decade, and the start of the Great Depression, a more feminine look of style, over the childish, flat-chested dress of the flapper era. This hairstyle echoes this, and is worn a little longer, often in the pageboy. During World War II, it was fashionable to grow one's hair again, but the longer bobs were still in vogue, often with winnowing reels in the wake of an allied victory.
During the 1960s, the bob came back, though it was less sharp and graphic. This look remained popular until the 21st century, and lob became popular, because basically, the bob was long.
