Quiksilver, Inc. is an American-Australian retail sports company, founded in Torquay, Australia, but is now based in Huntington Beach, California. It is one of the world's largest surfwear producers and other boardport-related equipment.
The company logo, designed by the founders of Alan Green and John Law in 1973, was inspired by Japanese painter Hokusai's woodcut The Great Wave off Kanagawa. It describes large waves with mounts on a red background.
The company also produces clothing lines for young women, under the Roxy brand. The Roxy logo consists of two copies of the Quiksilver logo, one reflected, forming the heart. Another line of clothing for women is under the brand Quiksilver Women.
In 2013, the company lost its finances for six years and started a turnaround plan to complete this. However, in September 2015 the company filed for bankruptcy. After emerging from bankruptcy in early 2016, the company once again became private with Oaktree Capital Management as its majority shareholder.

Quiksilver 2013-today
In 2013, Quiksilver operates 834 self-contained stores in major cities in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, Europe, North and South America, Asia and Africa. At that time, there were two types of stores operated by Quiksilver, known as "Boardriders Club" or "Factory" stores. Their products are also sold in many other outlets around the world such as PacSun, Fells Point Surf Company or Ron Jon Surf Shop. With PacSun's decline in retail excellence, Quiksilver and other brands saw sales decline.
In addition, the company operates a number of separate Roxy and Quiksilver Youth stores.
In 2013, the company lost its finances for six years and embarked on a turnaround plan in an attempt to resolve this. In September 2015 the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. After emerging from bankruptcy in early 2016, the company once again became private with Oaktree Capital Management as its majority shareholder.
By 2016, their current retail presence is significantly smaller after the restructuring by Oaktree.
The company name was changed to Boardriders in March 2017, which became the owner of Quiksilver, Roxy, and DC Shoes brands. It is in negotiations to buy Billabong company in 2018.
On 30 January 2018, global CEO Boardriders (Quiksilver), Pierre Agnes, was declared missing after his sailboat drifted to shore without him near Biarritz, France, after he sent the radio to postpone his return in a thick fog. Air and sea search operations launched on the same day.
Roxy
In 1990, Quiksilver launched its twin brand for young women, Roxy. The brand was closed after the 1991 surf industry crash but was revived by Bob McKnight and Danny Kwock in 1992, signing Lisa Andersen in 1993. Distinguished from the main Quiksilver line "for fear of damaging the men's brand", according to Randy Hild, senior vice president of marketing company. Roxy was chosen because it sounded like a punk band or club (possibly Roxy Music and The Roxy), and also the daughter of both CEO Bob McKnight and founder Alan Green. About 30% of Quiksilver's sales come from the Roxy line.
Since its inception, Roxy has grown into the largest fashion sports clothing company for young women. In addition to clothing, it now also produces accessories, household appliances, hard goods (snow and surf), wetsuits, shoes, books and perfumes. It has sub-brands for its children ranges, Roxy Girl and Teenie Wahine.
In the spring of 2013, the collection "DVF loves Roxy" was released as a one-edition limited edition collaboration swimwear and beach and accessories.
