Imagine Dragons is an American pop rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada, consisting of lead singer Dan Reynolds, lead guitarist Wayne Sermon, bassist Ben McKee, and drummer Daniel Platzman. The band first gained exposure with the release of their single "It's Time", followed by their award-winning studio album Night Ofions (2012), which resulted in chart-topping singles "Radioactive" and "Satan". Billboard places them at the top of their "In Rock Year" ratings for 2013 and 2017 and names them "Breakthrough Band 2013". and "Biggest Band of 2017." Rolling Stone, named "Radioactive", holds the record for most weeks charting on Billboard Hot 100, "the biggest rock blow this year", and MTV calls it "the biggest breakout band of the year this ".
The band's second studio album Smoke Mirrors (2015) reached number one in the US, Canada and the UK. The album was preceded by 40 singles "I Bet My Life", and second and third singles, "Gold" and "Shots". The band then embarked on a ten-month world tour, which led to a brief hiatus in 2016, with performances and contributions to the final soundtrack for the rest of the year.

In 2008, vocalist Dan Reynolds met with drummer Andrew Tolman at Brigham Young University where they were both students. Reynolds and Tolman added Andrew Beck, Dave Lemke, and Aurora Florence to play guitar, bass, and piano respectively for their band. Their name is an anagram for phrases that are only known by group members, expressed by Reynolds of each approved member. Five pieces released an extended game titled Talk to Me in the same year. Beck and Florence will also depart from the band's lineup that year. In 2009, Tolman recruited old high school friend Wayne Sermon, who had graduated from Berklee College of Music to play the guitar. Tolman then recruited his wife, Brittany Tolman, to sing back up and play the key, and the band started playing together again. Lemke left the band later, leading the Sermons to recruit other Berklee music students, Ben McKee, to join the band as their bassist and complete the lineup. The band garnered many followers in their home town of Provo, Utah, before its members moved to Las Vegas, the hometown of Dan Reynolds, where the band recorded and released their first three EPs.
The band released EP titled Imagine Dragons and Hell and Silence in 2010, both recorded at Battle Born Studios, in Las Vegas. They returned to the studio in 2011. The third EP, It's time , was made before they signed a record contract.
They got the first big break when frontman Pat Monahan's train fell ill just before the Bite of Las Vegas Festival 2009. Imagine the Dragons being called to fill and perform into a crowd of over 26,000 people. International success and Night Visions : 2012-2014
Theresa Flaminio departs from Imagine Dragons in early 2012, leaving them as four parts. The band teamed up with Alex da Kid, with whom they recorded their major major label release at Westlake Recording Studios in West Hollywood, California. An EP titled Advanced Silence was released on Valentine's Day (February 14, 2012) digitally and peaked at number 40 on Billboard 200. The band also released an EP titled Listen I in 2012.
Shortly thereafter, "It's Time" was released as a single and reached the top position at number 15 on Billboard Hot 100. The music video debuted on April 17, 2012 on all MTV affiliates and was later nominated for MTV Video Awards Music in the "Best Rock Video" category. "It's Time" is certified as sole platinum by the RIAA.
The band finished recording their debut album Night Visions in the summer of 2012 at Studio X at Palms Palms Resort and released an album in the United States on the day after Labor Day (September 4, 2012). It peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart with first week sales of over 83,000 copies, the highest chart for rock debut debut since 2006. The album also reached No. 2. 1 on Billboard Alternative and Rock Album charts as well as the top ten on the Australian, Austrian, Canadian, Dutch, German, Irish, Norwegian, Portuguese, Scots, Spanish and Album charts. He won the Billboard Music Award for Top Rock Album and was nominated for the Juno Award for International Album of the Year. Night Visions are certified platinum by the RIAA as well as in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK. The album produced three songs that reached Billboard Top 40, four songs on the ARIA Top 40, and five songs on the Top 40 UK chart.
The second single of the album "Radioactive" reached No. 1 on Billboard's Alternative Songs, Billboard Rock Songs, and the Swedish singles chart and has sold over seven million singles at United. At Lollapalooza in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the final date on the Into the Night Tour, the band announced a break, and completes saying, "This is our last show for a while, and has no better place to end this tour". The conclusion of Into the Night Tour hints at the end of the Night Visions album cycle . Vocalist Dan Reynolds joked about the end of the Night Visions cycle, saying that "We always write down the street, [so] the second album will come, unless we die at the age of 27 next year. there will be a second album, I do not know when it will happen, but it will come. "
The idea behind the second studio album, dubbed as their "New Year's resolution", is to create music and finish it when the band feels that their work is done. Reynolds told MTV in 2014 that the band wanted to "make an album we really like". He further said that "we tend to be perfectionists, too hard on ourselves at times, and we do not want to rush anything because we know how we are with things.We do not want to record until we really feel good about that, you know, and who knows how long it will take. " Since the beginning of the Night Visions Tour, the band has written new material for the upcoming album, and, even as early as the tour, has recorded a demo for the album, before entering the studio. The demo has been described by Reynolds as "definitely different," but added that "it's still Imagine Dragons, but we've got a lot of growth and maturing to do as a band." On October 24th, they revealed the main single to the upcoming album, "I Bet My Life" through some visual footage on Facebook and Instagram. The album was released on October 27th. It was sent to US Alternative radio to be added on November 3rd.

On December 12, 2014, Imagine Dragons posted on social media a request that fans in the US look around their city for some surprises and post their findings. They also hinted about two locations in Las Vegas. Soon, billboards featured artwork, band names, hashtags ("# smoke mirrors"), and additional titles, which were regarded as song names found. The following titles are revealed "Summer", "Shot", "Polaroid", "I'm Very Sorry", and "Gold". In an interview, Dan Reynolds told Billboard that the band would take a break for the rest of 2016, stating that "This is the year we will actually take time off." We have not stopped in, like, six year, so we forced ourselves to at least a year off. "The band released a one-night concert movie, Imagine Dragons In Concert: Smoke Mirrors, in theaters selected on March 2, 2016. The film was released on DVD and Blu-Ray under the title > Imagine a Dragon: Living Mirror Smoke . They also released the song "Not Today" from the soundtrack for Me Before You on April 28th. The band recorded the song "Levitate" for the science fiction movie Passenger . The song was released on November 28, 2016.
Evolve : 2016-present
On September 27, 2016, Imagine Dragons began teasing their third studio album with a tweet that only says "studio". The band continues to post secret messages on their Twitter account over the next four months. On January 28, 2017, the band began posting a series of videos that teased the album's first single. The time-lapse video features lead singer Dan Reynolds drawing surreal pictures on the drawing board. Morse code is hidden in the video and translated to "objects of the same color". On February 1, 2017, Imagine Dragons released "Believer" as the lead single for the next album. "Believer" is used as part of a Super Bowl ad for the Nintendo Switch.
Imagine Dragons is part of the 2017 Summer Way lineup in Oro-Medonte, Ontario. The band also performed at NOS Alive, Portugal on July 8th.
On April 27, 2017, Imagine Dragons released "Thunder" as the second single from their third album.
On May 8, 2017, Imagine Dragons announced their third studio album Evolve , as well as the new song "Whatever It Takes", which was released on the same day. The tour in support for the album was also announced within the same day. Evolve was released on June 23, 2017, worldwide.
