Plot
The series opens at Felicity High School graduation, where she asks Ben Covington, a classmate she likes, to sign her yearbook. Moved by his comments that he wished them to know each other better, he changed his educational plan entirely, decided to follow Ben to New York rather than attend Stanford University as a pre-medical student. Felicity's arrogant parents, concerned about Felicity's seemingly rash decision, came to New York to try to persuade her to go home and "get back on track". Felicity had second thoughts about his decision, but soon realized that he came not only to follow Ben, but to find his true identity.
While Felicity works to sort out her emotions, she continues the basic movement of student life and moves to her dorm. There, he met with a resident advisor Noel Crane. Finally, the two developed a romantic relationship, and the Love triangle between Felicity, Ben, and Noel formed a basic dramatic conflict in performances throughout the series.
A number of other characters appeared and played a big part in Felicity's life. His roommate for the first two years was Meghan Rotundi, a Wiccan gothic who sometimes cast spells on Felicity and the others. Julie Emrick is one of Felicity's best friends, like Elena Tyler, who often takes classes with Felicity. Felicity also has male friends, including Sean Blumberg, who is always trying to produce new off-leak inventions, and Javier Clemente Quintata, who runs the Dean & amp; DeLuca where Felicity works for most of his college career.
The recurring episode of this show is the shooting of a Felicity camera sitting in a dorm room or apartment holding a tape recorder, recalling the events to make a cassette to be sent to an old friend named Sally Reardon (voiced by Janeane Garofalo). It sometimes provides a method for Felicity to tell the whole episode. At the end of an episode like this, Felicity is often shown listening to the recording Sally sends in return.

Writer age
In 1999, a prominent young writer for the show, Riley Weston, was exposed as a fraud because it claimed to be much younger than it really was. At the age of 32, he began marketing himself to a television studio as a recent high school graduate, leaving his husband as his elder brother. He was soon hired by the WB Network as a writer for Felicity . Hailed as a prodigy and "wunderkind", he was featured on October 2010's "Weekly Entertainment Weekly of" 100 Most Creative People in Entertainment, "who described him as a new age 19 years old. Shortly after, he was offered a six-figure writing contract with Disney. His identity and original age were exposed after the producer Felicity checked his social security number. Shortly thereafter, his contract with WB ended and was not renewed, and his deal with Disney failed. Change of time slot and hairstyle
In the summer of 1999, after filming the first season, Felicity starred Russell - known for what The New York Times described as "[t] hat glorious head of voluminous golden backlit hair "- sends the photo show producer wearing a short-haired wig. They panicked before knowing that it was a joke but then suggested to the actress that a new hairstyle would be appropriate. After being shifted from Tuesday night at 9:00 pm Eastern to Sunday night at 20:00 Eastern (WB's weakest night) for the 1999-2000 season, the ranking for Felicity dropped immediately. This decline occurred before the hairstyle changes, but the hairstyle changes later became conflated by some public and by some popular press and network executives with previous events and thus mistakenly blamed the previous downgrades partly later on. new hairstyle. After a negative reaction Russell refused to use an extension or wig while his hair grew back. Although storytelling and time-slot alterations have created a downgrade, a network executive says the hair change of future players WB will "be given more thought in the network than ever". In 2010, TV Guide Network registered hairstyle changes in No. 19 in their "25 Biggest TV Blunders" list, with some commentators who argue that it is the reason that the ratings of the show are declining.
The haircut incident then became a popular cultural reference in other television shows, both comedy and dramatic. In the episode of 30 Rock "The Bubble," Jenna discusses how to cut her hair and says, "But if I make the wrong choice, I can end up like Keri Russell, Felicity 2. "When a girl cuts her hair due to supernatural powers in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode" Where's the Wild Things Are, "Xander's character states," People will go through all of Felicity with their hair, "while in the One Tree Hill episode of The Desperate Kingdom of Love, when Lucas walked to Keith on the beach, his uncle said, "Good job, Felicity", referring to his new shorter haircut. The teenage Claire of the Six Feet Under drama told her mother that she wanted to cut off all her hair like Felicity, whose mother replied, "Do I know her?" - Claire replied cynically, "Yes, he came for dinner once." In the episode of Sabrina the Teenage Witch Making the Grade, the hostility to the exposure she wrote asked Sabrina to ask, "[W] hy is everyone seeing me like I am the girl who told Felicity to cut her hair?" In the episode of the "Here Comes the Son", Paris character, debates whether to follow his girlfriend to Princeton rather than go to Harvard, saying, "Suddenly, I'm Felicity without hair problems." In the episode < i> Happy Endings "The Code War", Max allowed Dave's hair while the last one was sleeping. After seeing her new look, Penny quips, "You look like Keri Russell after she damages Felicity ." In the episode of Family Guy, "Friends Without Benefits", Chris stated that she had a hard time when Felicity cut her hair, because she used to have the same brown and curly haircut.
Despite the controversy, Felicity lasted for two more seasons.
International broadcast
Although Felicity is being filmed and aired in the United States, it's shown around the world.
Home media
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment released a DVD for four years. Due to the high licensing costs of music, many songs from original broadcasting episodes were replaced in DVD releases, some of them with songs by artists from independent Rescue Records labels. Blaire Reinhard ("Over and Over" and "Can not Let Go"), Mike Schmidt ("Just Wave Goodbye"), and Beth Thornley ("Mr. Lovely") are some of the artists whose music is used for DVDs but not the original broadcast.
In comments tracks on the final episode of the original Disney/Buena Vista ("Felicity Was Here") original release, co-creator Matt Reeves said the pilot and season finale contained the same music as when the show aired, but several other episodes contained changes. "One of the sad things about getting into syndication is that certain rights we get in the first year we can not get," Reeves said. "On the pilot and in this episode we have all the original music as it appears in the series."
Some episodes do not have proper telecine coding and when viewed on HDTV some overlapping artifacts are visible. All four seasons were re-released on DVD by ABC Studios on April 7, 2009 in "slimmer" packaging. Release 1 of this region has been stopped and now no longer printed.
On February 9, 2012, it was announced that Lionsgate Home Entertainment has secured the rights to the series and plans to release it again. Seasons 1 and 2 were re-released on May 1, 2012 and contain no additions, subtitles, or languages ââother than English. Seasons 3 and 4 were re-released on May 7, 2013.
