Curly is the process of forming sheet metal used to form the edge into a hollow ring. Curling can be done to remove sharp edges and increase the moment of inertia near the curved end. Other parts are curled up to perform their main functions, such as door hinges.

Operation
In braking, flare, or thorn operations, it should always be turned away from the dice. This will help extend the lifespan by avoiding unnecessary damage due to scratching. Stroke die should be along curl. Wrinkling is often done as part of a high production, progressive formation of multiple operations.

Tools
Curling die is designed to bend material of a certain thickness. Dies are generally made of tool steel being hardened due to the amount of wear caused by surgery. Its fine rounded cavities are often tied and polished to help curl the material uniformly.
