Premise

The show portrays itself as a cross between Cops and Punk'd , prepares an elaborate attack operation to trap people who want an extraordinary warrant. This sting operation includes opportunities for criminals to work in addition to film sets or as models in shooting, among others. Once the traps are set up and the actors have fun with the unsuspecting villains, the police officers catch and take them to jail.

All cases are displayed in Smile... You're Under Arrest! involves the Sheriff's Department of Maricopa County Phoenix, AZ under the command of Sheriff Joe Arpaio, known as "The Toughest Sheriff in America". He has a reputation for unusual law enforcement tactics such as reassembling chain gangs, placing prisoners in a desert tent town and forcing them to wear pink underwear.

People who are seduced into intricate deceptions are all nonviolent people with incredible warrants for low-level crimes. Arpaio believes that this sting provides a unique service to his community. Detractors say this is a simple refreshment on the part of Arpaio that does not result in improvements in public safety.

Episode 1

Genuine update: 12/27/2008

Sought fugitives were asked to model clothing for a fashion show as part of a complicated assault operation. The fugitives were told that they modeled clothes from a new line called "Fashion Guy Average" or "Fashion Girl Usual". After several clothing attempts, they were asked to model Halloween's new clothes, prison uniforms. After doing so, they were arrested.

Episode 2

Genuine update: 1/3/2009

The wanted fugitive was lured to a fake movie set with a $ 300 promise. Transported by "JL Thyme" ("jail time") limo service, they were asked to participate as extras in a fake movie, The Lime Green Line (a play on the phrase "The Thin Blue Line"), described as a prison movie intended to be more child-friendly. During the filming that was supposed to be, Storrs messed up his dialogue and Sheridan, the director, asked the fugitives to go in and play the lead role instead. Wearing prison clothes, the actor was asked to read sentences such as "If I knew I had a warrant, I would take care of it," before being handcuffed to prison bars on the set. Everyone then left before returning to tell the fugitives that they were doing a joke show, then revealed that they were actually being held. In one instance, the crew found that the person they captured was actually not the wanted fugitive, but someone who had stolen that individual's identity. They then arrested the man after finding him having his arrest warrants as well.

Episode 3

Genuine update: 1/10/2009

The wanted fugitive was led to believe that they had won a VIP treatment at a new spa called "J. L. Spa". After completing yoga and various relaxation services, a group of sheriff's deputies caught them in the middle of the face. Sheridan posed as a spa owner "Skip Townes" and the name of the spa was meant as a joking reference for "prison." The camera presence is explained to the fugitives as part of a promotional video taken for the spa. Sometimes they are asked to say something to the camera, such as "I always look and feel the best when I'm at J.L.... Spa."
