Innovation
According to the official company history, Bakke found the first free-standing freezer in 1943. They also claimed to be the first to manufacture a built-in refrigerator, starting in the 1950s, and consequently many people still hooked the look with Sub-Zero.
The Sub-Zero wine cooler combines the ability to be connected to a household security system. This feature is intended for those with large amounts invested in their wine collection.
Model of equipment
Sub-Zero manufactures two series of in-built cooling as well as wine storage and under counter units. Each refrigerator model usually has two variations, ie stainless or exterior steel exterior that can be adjusted in overlay version. The last option allows buyers to install kitchen cabinet panels on the door to fit the rest of the kitchen. The refrigerator is designed with a depth of 24 inches (61 cm) and can be fitted with a kitchen cabinet with the same standard depth to provide an integrated view. This type of built-in refrigerator is usually wider than usual to compensate for a shallower depth to keep the storage volume acceptable.
Sub-Zero 424 Wine Cooler has had a similar design since the early 1990s. It is the only wine cooler under the counter in its class to be able to store wine as low as 38 à ° F (3 à ° C). It has two temperature zones and can be connected to home alarm.
The Sub-Zero fridge is heavier than the refrigerator offered by GE, Frigidaire, or LG. An average fridge weighs 250-300 pounds (110-140 kg), but Sub-Zero can weigh as much as 800 pounds (360 kg) and can require four shippers to move the refrigerator unit into the kitchen, while most fridges are usually only requires two shippers. Also, a typical Sub-Zero unit is higher than a basic home refrigerator. Most full-size Sub-Zero models are 84 inches (2.1 m) tall and 48 inches (120 cm) wide.
The company currently has production facilities in Madison, Wisconsin; Phoenix, Arizona; Richmond, Kentucky; and Fitchburg, Wisconsin.
Along with many other major prestige brand brands, Sub-Zero follows the practice of limiting the spread of their refrigerator prices. Their dealers are strictly inspected and must follow the installation procedures and prices provided by the manufacturers to maintain the ability to distribute their products.
