Nostalgia Criticism is an American comedy television comedy web series created by, directed by and starring comedian Doug Walker (born November 17, 1981). The series was originally launched on YouTube on July 3, 2007 before moving to Walker's own site That Guy with the Glasses, then onto the Cool Channel. The event was followed by Walker as Nostalgia Titular criticism, bitter and sarcastic critic who mostly reviews movies and television shows from childhood and the past, usually with excessive anger. The show often alternates with Critic angry jokes and juvenile humor with valid analysis of episode subjects.
Walker briefly retired the series on August 14, 2012 to work on another project, even writing characters from existence in the Awesome Channel To Boldly Flee movie. However, on January 22, 2013, Walker announced the return of the show in a narrative video titled "The Review Must Go On". The event then returns with a more narrative and sketch-driven sixth season, starting on February 5, 2013 with a review of The Odd Life of Timothy Green .

Histori
The series was originally launched on YouTube on July 3, 2007 with a review of Transformer but episodes are often deleted by websites following complaints of copyright infringement. In April 2008, the video was removed from YouTube but the arrangement between the company and host Blip content in 2009 made them appear on YouTube once again.
The spin-off announcement, called The Nostalgia Chick , was created in "The Search for Nostalgia Chick" (August 10, 2008). The concept is to host women to review movies and television "nostalgia" targeted women. The contest ends in a three-way bond between Lindsay Ellis (who reviews Disney Pocahontas ), Krissy Diggs (who reviews Sailor Moon ), and Kaylyn Saucedo (who reviews Last Unicorn ). The competition was won by Ellis, then using the name "The Dudette", as announced on the site, "Nostalgia Chick Winner!" (September 15, 2008). Diggs and Saucedo will still join that Guy with Glasses as That Girl with Goggles and Marzgurl respectively.
On September 14, 2012, Walker announced his retirement Nostalgia Criticism and it was no longer a weekly production, because he and his brother felt that they had gone as far as they could with the series. On January 22, 2013, Walker released a short sketch film titled "The Review Must Go On", which also announced the return of Nostalgia Criticism. On December 30, 2015, Nostalgia Critics aired the 300th episode, Star Wars review: The Force Awakens .

Episode format
The series focuses on Criticism of Nostalgia, a fictional character created by (and played by) Doug Walker. GigaOM describes it as "high energy and shamelessly noisy". Reuters described it as having an "offbeat personality". The show mostly focuses on Critics watching movies as he mocks film problems with repeated memes, comedy sketches and pop culture jokes, such as making fun of famous actors who star in lesser known roles before they rise to fame. The show also features other segments, such as the "Top 11" countdown list for their favorite movie, criminals, or moments on TV shows and "Old vs. New" that compare movie reboots or popular series to the original. Since the series's revival in 2013, Walker has occasionally produced an editorial that addresses relevant film topics; while still featuring Criticism persona, this video is much less comedic and does not contain sketches or other actors. Starting with Jurassic World on June 23, 2015, this series also occasionally displays "clip-free" movies from movies currently in theaters to avoid copyright infringement, not silence and clips. This review shows scenes from a funny re-made movie by Walker, his family and other Awesome Channel contributors.
Walker describes his philosophy as follows: "[We need nostalgic critics] because everyone else has done it.When we see movies and shows from our youth, they are rarely as good as we remember, and often quite funny to compare them, what do you like then what you like right now.that is basically Nostalgic Criticism, looking back on how nostalgic envelopes our vision in heavenly happiness and how strange that reality is. "This is largely reflected in the series, but sometimes he reviews whatever is popular today.
